About me
My love of chairs!
As a child I was influenced by my Grandmother's love of Victorian furniture & fabrics and my grandfather's love of 1950's furniture. In my mind, the best of both worlds but if I had a choice, it would be mid-century. I learnt to sew at school, which is another important component for upholstery.
So when a good friend asked me to join him on an upholstery course in 2014, I thought why not give it a shot. I loved it. I have since completed at least 10 of the same course at Southwark Adult Learning Centre Upholstery course, building my skills with each project both using traditional and modern techniques.
I must say that I tend to focus more so on modern techniques. I am passionate about sustainability, and reducing waste so at my heart is keeping old furniture alive. The foam waste I turn into cute little pin cushions, and I reuse unwanted pillows to make inner cushions.
I take on commission for smaller projects, bespoke chairs, stools, cushions and make little 'cupcake pin cushions'. I don't really have the space for larger projects sadly.
